Olemme päässeet Lappiin, lumen ja kaamoksen keskelle. Tänään käytimme muutaman valoisan hetken päivästä jouluisten nauhalettien kuvaukseen. Teimme samalla kuva-kuvalta ohjeet kolmeen erilaiseen nauhalettiin.

Kuvissa vilahtelee myös ihanat talviset kynteni, jotka taiteiltiin Kynsistudio Zenailsissä. En ole koskaan kauheasti kiinnittänyt huomiota omiin tai muitten kynsiin, mutta nämä käsinmaalatut lumihiutaleet kynsissäni ovat kyllä käännyttäneet minut geelikynsifaniksi!

Karkkikeppiletti

Kivan karkkikepin näköisen letin saat tekemällä ensin neliosaisen nauhaletin valkoisella nauhalla. Pujottele sitten punaista nauhaa hiuslasson avulla valkoisten silmukkojen alta. Punainen nauha pysyy tiukasti valkoisen alla, joten nauhan alun letin yläpäässä voi vain työntää hiusten alle piiloon ilman solmuja, pinnejä tai hiuslenkkejä.

Lyhyitten hiusten korsettiletti

Korsettiletti on helppo tehdä pujottamalla nauhaa kahden hollantilaisen letin väliin. Lyhyempiin hiuksiin letin voi tehdä otsahiuksiin:

Ota ensin jakauksen isommalta puolelta otsan vierestä kolme pientä suortuvaa. Tee pieni puolihollantilainen letti, lisäillen hiuksia kasvojen puolelta.

Ota toiset kolme suortuvaa ensimmäisen letin takaa ja letitä toinen puolihollantilainen letti lisäten hiuksia ensimmäsen letin vierestä.

Pujottele ohutta nauhaa lettien väliin kengännauhan tavoin pientä hiuslassoa apunakäyttäen.

Yhteen punotut neliosaiset letit

Ellin hiukset ovat jo kasvaneet aikalailla sitten lokakuisen hiustenleikkuun. Koska hiukset ovat paksut, mutta eivät kauhean pitkät, helpoimpia kampauksia ovat sellaiset, joissa osa jää auki:

Tee jakaus keskelle ja ota oikeanpuoleisista hiuksista neljä suortuvaa. Vie oikean puoleisin osio viereisen osion ali ja seuraavan yli.

Vie vasemman puoleisin osio viereisen yli ja seuraavan ali, letitä samaan malliin, lisäten hiuksia oikealta.

Tee sama letti peilikuvana vasemmalle. Pujottele nauha reunimmaisten silmukoiden läpi hiuslasson avulla, vetäen kaksi lettiä yhteen nauhalla.

Pujottele nauha loppuun asti. Lätytä letti, eli vedä ulkoreunan silmukoiden reunoja hellästi poispäin toisistaan.

We are spending Christmas at my parents’ in Lapland, with lots of snow and no sun! Today we spent the few daylight moments taking braid photos and making three pictorials for Christmassy ribbon braids.

You can see my nails in the pictures as well… I didn’t used to pay that much attention to my nails (or others), but these hand painted snowflakes by Zenails have definitely turned me around!

Candy cane ribbon braid

For a candy cane braid, start by doing a 4-strand ribbon braid with white ribbon. Then use a topsy tail to pull red ribbon through the white loops. The red ribbon will stay tightly under the white ribbon, so you can just tug the start of the ribbon under the braid without any knots, pins or elastics.

Corset braid for short hair

A corset braid is easy to do by threading ribbon between two dutch braids. For shorter hair, you can do it with just part of the hair:

First, take three small strands from the heavy side of the parting and do a little lace braid, gathering hair from around the face.

Then take another three strands from behind the first braid and do another lace braid, adding hair from behind the first braid.

Finally, use a topsy tail to thread a thin ribbon between the two braids like shoe lace.

Two four-strand braids woven together

Elli’s hair has grown quite a bit since we cut it. It is really thick, but not very long, so half-up dos are the easiest:

Make a middle parting and take four strands from the right side. Take the right-most-strand under its neighbour and over the next strand.

Take the left-most-strand over its neighbour and under the next strand. Continue braiding with four strands, adding hair from the right side.

Do the mirror image on the left side. Use a topsy tail to thread a ribbon through the inner loops of the braids, tying the two braids together.

Thread the ribbon all the way down and pancake the braid (i.e. pull gently from the sides of the outer stitches).
