Solmut ovat kivaa vaihtelua leteille. Tätä kelttiläistä solmua olen tehnyt aina silloin tällöin, mutta se ei ihan heti päässyt suosikkeiheni, koska tuntui, että se löystyi jo tekovaiheessa. Solmun saa kyllä pysymään, jos ensin suihkauttaa vähän kuivashampoota hiuksiin, tai jos hiukset ovat tarpeeksi pitkät, ja kun muistaa laittaa pari pinniä solmun taakse pitämään sitä koossa.

Kelttiläisen solmun harjoittelu oli itselleni aika hankalaa, jouduin katsomaan uudestaan ohjevideoita aina, kun tein solmua, mutta sinnikkään harjoittelun jälkeen osaan nyt tehdä sen melkein silmät kiinni, ja jopa niin hyvin, että uskalsin kuvata siitä ohjevideon: Kelttiläinen solmu.

Solmua harjoitellessa kannattaa se tehdä mieluummin kahdesta pikkuletistä, kuin pelkistä hiussuortuvista. Näin solmu on helpompi tehdä ja se pysyy myös helpommin koossa. Tässä kalanruotoleteistä, köysiletistä ja ihan normaaleista kolmen suortuvan leteistä tehdyt solmut:

  

 

Ja kun solmut alkavat onnistua, niitä voi yhdistää muihin kampauksiin: ensimmäisessä alla olevista kuvista olen vetänyt vesiputousletin suortuvat solmuun ennen, kuin tein niistä tikapuuletin, toisessa kuvassa kalanruodoista tehdyn solmun päät menevät kahteen nutturaan.

Knots are a nice alternative to braids. I’ve tried the Celtic knot quite a few times, but it really wasn’t one of my favorites to start with. It seemed to always become loose while I was making it. Now I’ve learned, that the knot stays if the hair is long enough or if you spray some dry shampoo before tying the knot, and remember to attach it with bobby pins.

For me, it was quite difficult to learn the Celtic knot, and I had to always re-check a tutorial when I did it. But after a fair amount of practice, I can now almost do it eyes closed, and was finally confident enough to do a video tutorial on it: Celtic knot.

When practising the Celtic knot, it is a good idea to use two micro braids to do it: it is easier to do the knot, and it stays better. Here, I’ve made it with fishtail braids, rope-twists and regular 3-strand braids:

  

 

And once you master the knot, you can use it in any hairstyle: in the first picture below, I’ve tied the strands of a waterfall braid into knots before making it into a ladder braid, and in the second one, I’ve made a knot out of fishtails and finished with two buns.
