Avainsana: suspended infinity braid

Kahdeksikkolettejä ja vetoketjuja

Viimepäivien letit näyttivät tältä.

[Scroll down for English]

Lettihaastepäivänä nro 11 tein kelttiläisen solmun ja kaksi kahdeksikkolettiä. 12. päivänä tein viisiosaisen ketjuletin, jossa kaksi osiota korvasin nauhalla.

15.6. Hollantilainen kahdeksikkoletti

Tämä menee suoraan letti-ohje to-do listaani. Sitä odotellessa suosittelen katsomaan Donnan @Braidsandstyles12 tutoriaaliin: DIY Dutch Infinity Braid.

[in English]

I start, again, with the last few days’ braiding challenge braids:

Day 11 I did a celtic (or infinity) knot into infinity braids. Day 12 was a 5 strand intricate braid with two ribbons:

Day 13 I did two lace braids from the neck up and into two lace braided  buns. Today’s braid was a two sided waterfall into two dutch braids.

In the coming days we have the first couple of braids that I have no video tutorial for, but I will put links here to other good tutorials:

June 15th – Dutch infinity braid

This is going on my tutorial to-do list. But for the time being I’d recommend Donna’s @braidsandstyles12 tutorial: DIY Dutch Infinity Braid.

June 17th – Milkmaid braids

I have step-by-step pictures for this one in my braid book, Letille. But for those of you, who don’t read Finnish and don’t have the book, there’s an excellent tutorial by Cute Girls Hairstyles: Milkmaid braids.

June 16th – Zipper braid ~ June 18th – Suspended infinity braid

I know I skipped day 16, but that was because I wanted to show you the zipper braid and the suspended infinity next to each other. I have recently published a video for each of these. The zipper braid is slightly more complicated, the suspended infinity is relatively easy once you get the hang of it. On the left, you can see the zipper braid, with quite straight side stitches, on the right the suspended infinity braid, where the side stitches form kind of downward pointing arrows.

Something different

Normally I can look at a braid and figure out how it’s been done. But sometimes I have no clue.

Suspended Infinity braid into a ponytailA few months ago I saw this braid, which looked different from the normal french and dutch braids, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t see how it had been done. Luckily HairAndNailsInspiration had done a YouTube tutorial (link here), so I could try it.

This was my first attempt, and it was quite difficult. I thought you definitely need more than two hands, so I did it on my oldest daughter, who was holding strands of hair when needed.

A few days ago I decided to try it on my middle daughter, who wouldn’t help by holding strands of hair for me… Surprisingly, it still worked out fine:

PS. Sorry for not posting for a while. We are in the middle of organising our house move. Will be moving out of our apartment next week, then traveling for two months and finally relocating to Finland in the summer. So please bear with me for the next few months, I will try to do some posts while we are travelling, but not sure about the wifi connections in all the places we are going.

I’ll try to do quick Instagram posts when I can. You can get to my Instagram by clicking on the pictures on the right panel.
