Superkestävä renksuletti (video!)

Monia kampauksia kutsutaan leteiksi, vaikkei niitä letitetäkään. Tämä hiusrenksuilla tehty kampaus on tehty pienistä poninhännistä. Tämä “letti” on todella kestävä, koska siinä on paljon hiusrenksuja, eivätkä hiukset pääse karkaamaan.

Renksuletistä löytyy ohjevideoita YouTubesta nimellä pull-through braid, koska moni letittäjä tekee tämän tekniikalla, jossa ponnareita vedetään toistensa läpi.

Letin voi tehdä joko yksinkertaisempana ponnariin tai monimutkaisempana useammalla hiusrenksulla. Australialainen Shelley keksi letistä myös 3D-version (siihen löytyy kuvaohjeet @prettylittlebraids Instagramissa)

Many hairstyles are called braids even though they are not braided. This one is made out of many little ponytails. This “braid” is extremely durable because of all the elastics: it holds all the hair really well for a couple of days

You can find youtube tutorials for the pull-through braid, which gets its name from the technique of pulling little ponytails through each other. I use a slightly different technique, and made a tutorial of my own:

You can do a simpler version of this by making it in a ponytail or you can make it more detailed by adding more elastics. My friend Shelley came up with a 3D-version of the pull-through braid (you can find a pictorial on her Instagram @prettylittlebraids)

Tikapuuletti – ohjevideo

Pitääkö kampauksen kestää kuperkeikka ja sohvan alle ryömiminen? Jotkut kampaukset ovat nuoren tai aikuisen päässä tosi hienoja, mutta niitten teko lapsen päähän on ihan turhaa. Vesiputousletti on yksi näistä: helppo tehdä ja hienon näköinen, mutta elinaika vilkkaan lapsen päässä noin 5 minuuttia.

Reilu viikko sitten opetin YouTube-tutoriaalissa vesiputous letin, ja sitä opettelemme myös lettikursseilla. Lapsille tehtäessä, putousletiä pitää kuitenkin jatkaa, esimerkiksi laittamalla alas jäävät hiukset poninhännälle tai letittämällä vesiputouksen suortuvat tikapuuletiksi.

Tällä viikolla julkaissemassani Youtube-ohjevideossa näytän, kuinka vesiputousletistä saadaan tikapuulettikampaus:

Kun opettelet nämä kaksi, pystyt tekemään vesiputouksista ja tikapuista ties mitä variaatioita. Tässä putousletti js siitä koulua varten modifioitu versio:

If you have active kids, you know that some hairstyles have no chance of survival: waterfall braid comes undone the minute your child does a summersault or crawls under the sofa.

A week and a half ago I published a tutorial for the waterfall braid, and it’s also a popular one on my braiding courses. It’s great for adults and older kids, but on younger kids you need to modify it to make it last: you can either tie the rest of the hair on a low ponytail or pick up the waterfall pieces and make it into a ladder braid.

If you practice your waterfalls and ladder braids, the possibilities for different hairstyles are endless.

Köysiletti – Rope braid

Kun pienenä kieputin Barbien päähän köysilettiä, ihmettelin aina, kun se löystyi samantien. Nyt vanhempana olen löytänyt keinon, millä köysiletti ei löysty – ihan helppo kikka, miksei mulle kukaan kertonut aiemmin?

Tämän viikon videotutoriaalissa näytän, kuinka köysiletin osioita pitää kiertää sekä toistensa ympäri että itsensä ympäri, jottei letti löystyisi. Köysiletistä voi tehdä monta eri variaatiota. Tässä näytän puoliranskalaisen köysiletin ja köysiponnarin. (Ja alkuänkytyksen jälkeen video on ihan selkeä)

Helpomman version köysiletistä saat tekemällä vain köysi ponnarin (videolla olevan letin loppuosa). Voit myös yhdistää letin alkuosan johonkin muuhun letiin, jos haluat vaihtelua kampauksiin.

Tässä kaksi puoliranskalaista köysilettiä yhdistetty ranskalaisiin letteihin (kampauksen inspiraationa oli @sheerbraidedbliss Instagram-letittäjä).

As a kid, I always wondered why the rope braids that I did on my Barbie, always came undone so easily. A couple of years ago I learned a trick to keep the rope twist tight. Why didn’t anyone tell me before?

In this week’s video tutorial, I show how you need to twist the sections of the rope twist around themselves as well as around each other to keep it tight. There are lots of styles you can do with a rope twist. Here, I show you how to do a lace rope twist into a rope twist ponytail.

You can make an easier version by just doing the ponytail part of the twist, or for variation, you can do the lace rope twist and combine with another style.

Here, I combined two rope twists with French braids (style inspired by Chelsea @sheerbraidedbliss):

Uusi YouTube video joka viikko

Julkaisin juuri ensimmäisen suomenkielisen YouTube videoni! Jee! Käykää kurkistamassa, kommentoimassa, tykkäämässä ja tilaamassa Jenni’s Hairdays kanava. Kanavalta löytyy myös vanhat englanninkieliset lettivideot, mutta nyt lisään uusia videoita sekä suomeksi, että englanniksi uudella hienolla lookilla (kiitos kuvauksesta ja editoinnista Veli Creative!)

Aikeeni on julkaista joka viikko uusi lettiohje. Vaihtelen vähän tasoa: tällä viikolla helppo ja nopea käärmeletti, ensi viikolla jotain vähän haastavampaa.

Käärmeletti on nopea, koska se ei vaadi jakausten tekoa, eikä ole symmetrinen. Se myös sopii kaiken ikäisille: videolla esiintyy 4-vuotias tyttöni, mutta tein tänään myös saman kampauksen siskolleni.

I just published my first proper braid tutorial (and I only got my left and right mixed up once)! I have some older tutorials on my channel already, but the new one has a completely new look – shot and edited by Veli Creative. Go and have a look, like, comment, or subscribe to my channel.

I will be publishing a new tutorial every week, both in English and Finnish. I will include different levels: this week is a quick and easy snake braid, next week I’ll do a more advanced style.

The snake braid is quick because you don’t need to do partings and it’s not symmetric, so you can just go ahead and do it without too much fuzz. It suits all ages as well: the tutorial shows it on my 4-year-old daughter, but I also did the same braid on my sister today.
