Seuraavien päivien lettiohjeet

Kesäkuun lettihaaste jatkuu: ensiksi taas näytän viimepäivien letit ja sitten ohjeita tuleville päiville.

Tässä siis neljäosaiset nauhaletit ristiin rastiin, sitten kahden päivän haaste yhdistettynä, eli viisiosainen letti ja neliosainen läpivetoletti.

11.6. Kahdeksikkoletti

Lauantain letti on hieman erikoisempi, mutta melko helppo. Katso täältä ohje kahdeksikkolettiin.

12.6. Viisiosainen nauhaletti

Nauhaa ja osioita voi lisätä letteihin monella eri tapaa, tässä ohje poninhäntään tehtävään viisiosaiseen nauhalettiin.

13.6. Puoliranskalainen tai puolihollantilainen letti

Kun hiuksia lisätään vain toiselta puolelta, voi letin tehdä eri suuntiin ja eri osiin päätä. YouTube kanavaltani löytyy ohje kolmeen eri tapaan tehtyyn puoliranskalaiseen lettiin. Jos haluat vaihtelua, kokeile vaikka karusellilettiä tai risteileviä lettejä.

14.6. Vesiputousletti

Jos perus vesiputousletti onnistuu jo hyvin, niin kokeile tuplavesiputousta.

June braiding challenge goes on. Again, I’m going to show you what I did last couple of days and then give you tutorials for the coming days. First, I did criss cross four strand lace braids and then I combined two days’ challenge into one: a five strand braid into a 4-strand pull-through braid.

June 11th – Infinity braid

Saturday’s braid is a bit different, but quite easy. Here’s a video for the infinity braid.

June 12th – 5-strand ribbon braid

You can add more strands and some ribbon in many different ways. Here’s a video for a ponytail with a 5-strand ribbon braid.

June 13th – Lace braid

You can do all kinds of things with lace braids. I’ve got a video for three different ways to do a basic lace braid. If you’re looking for something different, try a carousel braid or criss cross lace braids.

June 14th – Waterfall braid

If you already master the basic waterfall braid, try a double waterfall.

Moniosaiset letit – multi-strand braids

Kesäkuun lettihaasteen seuraavat päivät ovat täynnä moniosaisia lettejä, mutta ei hätää, minulta löytyy video niihin kaikkiin, ja Hair by Lorin blogista paljon lisää ohjeita ja ideoita.

Mutta ensin näytän, mitä sain tehtyä viime päivien listasta. No lauantaina oli muutama ylimääräinen muuttuja ylioppilas- ja kaasojen kampausten kanssa, joten omat lapset olivat kevätjuhlassa kukkapinneillä ja saparoilla, mutta sunnuntain letti oli sitten two in one – läpiveto ja neliosainen letti. Maanantain letti oli ranskalainen kalanruoto ja tänään taas huijausta: ennakoin kiireisen päivän ja olin tehnyt kolmoistwistiputouksen valmiiksi…

Sitten ohjeita tuleville päiville:

8.6. Neliosainen nauhaletti

Neliosaisen nauhaletin voi tehdä eri suuntiin ja mukaan voi kerätä kaikki hiukset tai vain osan. Sekä Letille-kirjasta että YouTube kanavaltani löytyy ohje neliosaiseen nauhalettiin.

9.6. Viisiosainen letti

Nyt alkaa jo kuulostaa, että sormet menee solmuun, ja niin ne ekalla kerralla meneekin, mutta olen saanut paljon palautetta, että mun ohjevideolla myös letittäminen viidellä onnistuu!

10.6. Moniosainen läpivetoletti

Letille-kirjan suosituin ohje on läpivetoletti, joka on tehty kolmella osiolla. Viime talvena kuvasimme myös neliosaisen läpivetoletin ohjevideon. Nämä kaksi ovat ehdottomia suosikkejani!

The next few days of the June braiding challenge are full of multi-strand braids, but don’t worry, I’ve got tutorials for all of them, and there are loads more in Hair by Lori’s blog.

But first, I’m going to tell you about the last few days of the braiding challenge. Well, Saturday was busy with graduation and bridesmaids hairdos, so my own girls had hair clips and pigtails! but Sunday, I did two in one – fours-strand and a pull through braid. Monday’s braid was a french fishtail and today I cheated again: I anticipated a busy day, so I had done a triple waterfall twist in advance…

And now for the coming days:

8th June – 4-strand ribbon braid

You can do this in different directions and with all the hair or as a half up. My video shows a diagonal 4-strand ribbon braid.

9th June – 5-Strand braid

Now you’re going to have your fingers in knots for the first couple of attempts, but I have been told that following my tutorial for the 5-strand braid will actually get you there!

10th June – Multi-strand pull-through braid

This one is definitely my favourite. I have a tutorial for the 3-strand pull-through braid in my braiding book Letille, and I have a video for a 4-strand pull-through on my YouTube.

Viisiosaiset letit

Viidellä osiolla letitys on aika hyvää sormijumppaa… ja oikeastaan aivojumppaakin. Kun viiden suortuvan kanssa pääsee hyvään rytmiin, alkaa se kyllä sujua paremmin ja paremmin joka kerta.

Tietysti, kun suortuvia on monta, voi niitä punoa toistensa ympärille monella eri tavalla. Näytän tässä kaksi tapaa, ja muutaman eri sovelluksen niistä.

Viittä osaa voi letittää niin, että kaksi osiota jää keskelle ja kolme risteilee reunasta reunaan. Tässä keskimmäiset osiot on korvattu nauhalla: Viisiosainen nauhaletti.

Tästä viisiosaisesta nauhaletistä voi tehdä myös hollantilaisen version, hiuksia lisäillen:

In English:

Braiding with five strands is quite good exercise for your fingers as well as your brain. But when you get into the rhythm, it gets easier every time.

With multiple strands, you can weave them together in many different ways. I’ll show you two options and some variations of those two.

One way of doing a 5-strand braid, is to leave two strands in the middle. Here, those two strands are replaced with ribbon: 5-strand ribbon braid.

Here are dutch versions of the same braid. I used ribbon in the first one and micro braids in the second.

You can also braid in a way that each strand has a turn to come to the outer side. This one’s a Dutch version: 5-strand Dutch braid.

Here are some half up versions of the same:

And finally, if you really get the hang of it, you can do a two-sided 5 strand waterfall with two five strand Dutch braids:

Viikonlopun hiushommia

Viikonloppu on ollut täynnä letitystä. Eilen olin Forssassa Naistenpäivätapahtumassa, jossa tein lettejä ja lettikampauksia: sain letittää aikuisille ja lapsille, pitkiä ja lyhyempiäkin hiuksia, kiharia, suoria, paksuja, ohuita… Nautin tällaisista tapahtumista, kun itselle tulee hyvä mieli siitä, että saa niin monen muun hyvälle mielelle! Kyllä kaunis letti tekee ihmeitä!

Tänään letittely jatkui: sain tehdä yhden rippikampauksen ja yhden letin syntymäpäiväjuhlille. Kun pääsin kotiin tyttöjeni kanssa, rentouduimme katselemalla lettikuvia ja kokeilemalla uusia kampauksia.

Muissa letittelyissä oli sen verra kiire, etten kuvannut hiuksia, mutta kotona tehdyt kampaukset saimme ikuistettua:

Vanhin tyttäreni sai 5-osaisen hollantilaisen letin, jossa kahden väristä nauhaa.

Kun nuorin tyttöni sanoi, että olisi mielellään eilisellä letillä, olin minäkin jo saanut tarpeekseni tälle viikonlopulle ja sovittiin, että huomenna sitten lisää!

I’ve been super busy braiding all weekend: a Women’s day event yesterday with 5 hours of braiding, a braided bun for a first communion and a braid for a birthday party today.

We also tried new styles with my girls:

The amazing flower bun hawk by Jill Etah, picture and link to a tutorial above. And a five strand dutch ribbon braid with two colours.

My youngest one wanted to keep yesterday’s braid… and I was quite happy to let her 🙂

More back-to-school hair

Now that our Swiss and UK friends (and pretty much everyone else) have also started school, I’ll share some more of my school hair ideas.

First, a 5-strand braid with micro braids. Warning: five strand braids always require some finger flexibility. This is nice and fairly quick if you’ve practiced it a few times, but don’t attempt it for the first time when you’re in a rush in the morning.

This is also easy to do in your own hair. Here’s a link to a tutorial by Bebexo: 5-strand with micro braids . And once you’ve practised it a bit, you can try a french version (on the right), but that’s a bit advanced.

If that’s all too much for you, here is one that is much easier: criss-cross pigtails.

The hardest part about this is making the partings: you need to divide the hair into six sections. Then make two pigtails at the top, cross them over, make two pigtails in the middle and include the crossed over pigtails as well, cross them over, and make two pigtails with the rest of the hair. I’ve twisted the hair a bit, to hide fly-aways.

Finally, a quick and pretty hairstyle: milkmaid braids.

The model here is my youngest daughter, who is not in school yet, but so often we have no time to photograph the older ones!

This is also perfect for thinner hair. I tried it on my oldest, and it looked awful as her hair is so thick that the sides were very bulky, and it was too heavy to pin up securely enough to last a whole school day. But on the two younger sisters this style stays in quite well.

These hairstyles and a couple of ponytail days should take you through another school week!
